Living in Abruzzo
If you have arrived up to here, probably you already know or have already heard of Abruzzo. Italy is an extraordinary country. Abruzzo – due to its geographical conformation and its history that kept it partly aloof from industrial development - has retained features that turned it into one of the most attractive regions in terms of natural beauties and preserving traditions. Abruzzo, in the center heart of Italy, is a region with one of the most natural reserves, breath taking mountains that reach a peak of 3,000 m but at the same time the Adriatic sea is very close all of which can be reached by car in just half an hour… Not only does Abruzzo stand for nature, but also culture: you will visit towns with a great past, rich in monuments, discover ancient villages with their historical recreations, admire castles…. typical products, craftsmanship. The people are very friendly. For those who like to enjoy good authentic food and wine Abruzzo is the place! Famous for home made geniuine cuisine with affordable prices where you will find in the many "agristurismo" restaurants in the area. Abruzzo is also famous worldwide for their wine - Montelpulciano D`abruzzo and Trebbiano. For those that are looking for a relaxing environment, friendly people, sandy beaches, beautiful mountains, mild sunny wheather and good food, you have found the perfect place!
The National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga is one of the largest in Italy and includes two of the most important Apennine mountain ranges.
The peak of Corno Grande ( 2912 mt) rises within this area, with spectacular calcareous rock walls to the east and high plains to the west.
An outstanding feature is Calderone, the southern-most glacier in Europe.
50 km from Pescara there is a walking route which in 3 hours allows you to explore two little-known characteristic places in Gran sasso, the Valle d’Angri valley and the Voltigno plain.
